November Link Love Time
December is here and it's time, once again, to thank all those who have commented at Writer's Notes during the past month. You are appreciated more than you know! Your interaction is what helps to keep this blog vital. Your insightful feedback keeps things from stagnating, and just as importantly (to me, at least!) it keeps me from feeling as if I'm talking to myself! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us! Hope you'll visit and comment often this month, as well! I do so enjoy hearing from each and every one of you!

By the way, I'm impressed with the way your blog handles comments. By comparison, my blog falls far short. Guess I've got yet some more fine-tuning to do.

Ever since I picked up this idea from another blogger a few months ago, I've made this a monthly tradition at Writer's Notes, because I want my commenters to know how much I appreciate them! I agree that this type of link post is one great way to find interesting new blogs! Hope you'll find some you like in this list!
Glad you like Orble's comment protocol. A few others have mentioned having some difficulty with it--but things are different from my end than they are from theirs, so its hard for me to understand exactly what they're going through.
Hope you get your blog's comment process figured out soon! From my end, your comments section has always been easy to use, though I did notice the problem you had with link URLs not wrapping to the next line. Hope you're able to correct that problem quickly!
Thanks for the visit!

I've been meaning to do this type of monthly link love at my blog--guess I've been a little lazy
I think I'll make a point in the upcoming year to do these types of appreciation posts.

Michele

Very happy to link to your blog! These posts can be a bit of work; but I've discovered a way to make them practically a breeze:
Instead of waiting till the month is over, I begin preparing the post early in the month. First, I copy the links from the prior month into a new post, which I set to go live on the first of the next month. As readers begin leaving comments, I start moving their links up to the top of the page, leaving the others at the bottom to use later if they comment again during that month. If someone comments who didn't last month, I prepare a link and add it to the top list.
Throughout the month, every time someone leaves a comment, I either move their link up or create a link for them and add it to the list. Then, when the first of the month rolls around, I delete any links that remain at the bottom of the page (those who haven't commented during the last month), and I have all my links ready! All I need to do is write the rest of the post and click "Create Post" and I'm good to go with a minimum of work and hassle! This is the first time I've done it this way, and it has worked just great! No more big burden creating all those links at once on the first of the month--which is a really big job!
Hope this will save you a lot of work when you begin writing link love posts in 2008!
Thanks for the visit!

It's certainly a big job! But once you've done the first one and picked up a few tricks on how to do the rest, you'll be in great shape for doing these posts with far less work! You'll "work smarter, not harder"!
Thanks for stopping back!

P.S. Would have deleted one of your duplicate comments, but your third one is so cute and clever, I've decided to leave them!

No need to feel bad at all! A few days ago, while visiting someone's blog, I left a comment on an entirely different post than the one I'd meant to! Now, THAT'S embarrassing!
I tend to get confused with blogs that have the comment link at the TOP of the post, since I'm used to those that have it at the BOTTOM! So, of course I automatically go to the bottom of the post and immediately proceed to leave my comment--on the NEXT post! LOL!
(Now that I analyze that, it makes perfect sense to put the comment link at the bottom of the post, because that's where the reader is when finished reading and ready to comment!)
Thanks for dropping back by!

I have a sense that many readers miss the comments altogether, because the links are just to inconspicuous at the bottom. If prominent at the top, then a reader can click on the headline and see the comments.
I guess there's no real BEST way!

I suppose there are good reasons for both ways! I just know that I almost invariably end up putting my comment on the wrong post when the comment link is at the top!
(There are a few blogs where I've gotten USED to the fact that it's at the top--after making my commenting error initially--and so I'm OK with it; but I usually have to stop to think. But other blogs catch me unawares.)
I guess I'm so used to comment links being at the bottom because that's the way they are at Orble; though they are at quite a few other blogs, also. That seems so much more natural to me, because we generally comment once we've reached the end of the post--and that way we don't have to scroll back up to the top after we've finished reading.
Though, now that I think about it, in cases where posts aren't shown in their entirety on the home page, you'd have to click over to the rest of the post to find the comment link if it's at the end. We tend to do that anyway, though, when we read the post.
Your idea about putting comment info at both the top AND the bottom might just be the answer!
Thanks for your input!
