July '08 Comment Recognition

Once again it's time to recognize my valued readers who have left comments at Writer's Notes during the month of July, 2008. My apologies that my July posts were so sparse. Life has been especially hectic again this past month! And consequently, because I wrote so few posts, my list of July commenters will be correspondingly short. (Special thanks to this loyal group of die-hard Writer's Notes fans who decided to stick with me anyway! Thanks, too, to those of you who commented here for the first time last month! You, too, are greatly appreciated!)

Thanks So Much!

I appreciate all your thoughtful comments! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and share your thoughts, opinions, ideas, experiences, and support at Writer's Notes! I truly enjoy reading your insights, experiences, and viewpoints! Thanks for making July another special month through your valuable input!

July '08 Commenters

The following is a list (in no particular order) of all the fantastic folks who have left comments at Writer's Notes during July, 2008:

Brad Shorr, at Word Sell, Inc.

Lillie Ammann, at A Writer's Words, An Editor's Eye

Raven, at Alaska Chronicle

Cindy Nichols, at Kaleidoscope

Dan (dcr), at dcrBlogs

Cheryl Wright, at Cheryl Wright Writes

Dianna G., at I Wish This Was 42

Wild Bill, at Passionate Blogger

Lindsay, at Writing for Your Wealth

Wilson Pon, at Techno Stuffs

Chris Champion, at Vyoos

And Two Honorable Mentions

I'd like to also add two of my favorite blogging buddies to this month's comment recognition list, though neither was able to comment during July, for the reasons mentioned below.

Due to technical difficulties which were entirely beyond her control, Krissy Knox has been unable to comment at Orble lately but has contacted me more than once via MyBlogLog messages:

Krissy Knox, at Sometimes I Think

While Michele Tune's life has been extremely hectic during the past month and therefore she hasn't found the time to comment, she has communicated with me via e-mail and has also given one of my posts a Stumble:

Michele Tune, at Writing the Cyber Highway

Thanks, ladies!

I Really Appreciate Your Comments!

Thanks again, everyone, for making the Writer's Notes conversation so much richer this past month by visiting and sharing your thoughts, insights, opinions, advice, and personal experiences with us! You're the best!

Many, many thanks,
Jeanne

P.S. If you've commented at Writer's Notes during July, and I've somehow managed to overlook you, please let me know. I appreciate every commenter, and I want each of you to get the recognition you deserve!

Did you enjoy this post? Have anything to add...any insights to share? I'd love to hear your thoughts! After all, your comments are what these monthly recognition posts are all about!

Writer's Cafe Reopens This Friday

I'm excited to report that Yvonne Russell will be reopening her popular Writers Cafe, at Grow Your Writing Business this Friday, February 29th. I'm sure that everyone who's enjoyed gathering at Yvonne's place for a friendly chat about the writing life will agree that that's good news! Yvonne has been on hiatus lately due to unforseen circumstances--and also taken a much-deserved rest--and it will be fantastic to see her back! I know I speak for many other writers and bloggers when I say that both she and the Cafe have truly been missed!

Be Sure to Be There!

The grand reopening of the Writers Cafe will happen this Friday, so be sure not to miss it! As before, Yvonne's cyber cafe will be open every weekend, Friday through Sunday, giving writers and bloggers a wonderful place to congregate over the weekend, sharing inspiration, experiences, accomplishments, and encouragement with their peers. Be sure to bring along a cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, and prepare to settle in with your favorite sweet--or not-so-sweet--snack. You're gonna love it!

Hope to see you there!
Jeanne

Did you enjoy this post? Have anything to add? What do you enjoy most about the Writers Cafe? If you're new to it, hope you'll stop by and introduce yourself! It's a very friendly group!

A Little Late, But with Lots of Link Love!

Since the first of the year, I've been planning (and working on) this post to thank all who commented at Writer's Notes in 2007. I'd hoped to have it finished sooner but simply couldn't manage it, and for that I apologize.

I would have liked to go into more detail than I have here, also (i.e., listing the number of comments each person left and giving special recognition to those who commented often); but, since I don't have an efficient method of doing this at the moment--and since I also don't want this post to be any later than it already is--I'll limit myself to identifying individual commenters and linking to their blogs in the same way I do in my monthly comment recognition posts.

Perhaps later, when I can find the time to delve more deeply into my blog's 2007 comments and analyze them more closely, I'll be able to compile a list of exactly how many comments each person left and include it in a follow-up post. For the time being, though, I'll settle for one big link-love post!

Writer's Notes' 2007 Comments

During 2007, Writer's Notes received a grand total of 1,072 comments--though roughly half were my own replies to reader comments; therefore I'll adjust that total to 536 net comments received from 98 readers during the year. (Well, actually, it was less than a year. See next paragraph.)

Because I began blogging at the very end of January (January 28th), I actually only blogged for an eleven-month period during 2007, which likely cut down on the number of comments I would have received had I blogged all year. (Oh, well, this year should be different.)

Also, being totally new to blogging, I got off to a rather slow start, taking a good few months to learn the ropes and begin publishing a substantial number of posts each month. (For example, in February, 2007, I only posted four entries, in March, five, and in April, just one--though I made up for it after finally developing my blogging rhythm in May, 2007, posting 29 entries that month. I'm sure that my blogging infrequency from February through April didn't help encourage many comments during that first quarter of my first blogging year!)

Writer's Notes' 2007 Commenters

At any rate, here's a list of all the readers who left comments at Writer's Notes during 2007 and for whom I am so very grateful! (Order of list is totally random.)

Many Thanks to Each and Every Commenter!

Thanks so much, everybody, for taking the time to leave your thoughts at Writer's Notes during the 11 months that I've been blogging! You have made this blog a lively, friendly community, and your insights, kind words, and generous good wishes have been greatly appreciated! Hope you'll help make the Writer's Notes Year Two conversation as fascinating as its Year One interaction has been!

And Many Thanks to All My Readers!

If you have visited Writer's Notes during 2007, subscribed to my RSS feed, or signed up for e-mail notification of new posts to my blog--even if you didn't leave comments--I so appreciate you, as well! I know how hectic life can be, and I understand that there are many other reasons, besides being busy, for not getting around to commenting on the blogs we visit.

I'd Love to Hear from You in 2008!

If you are a regular Writer's Notes reader--and even if you aren't--I'd sure love to get to know you during the coming year; so, if you could possibly find the time, it would be wonderful to hear from you! I promise that you'll receive a personal reply. That's one thing I always do here at Writer's Notes: respond to comments! That's because each and every one of you--and each and every one of your thoughts--is important to me! You may have noticed the "iReply" logo in my sidebar: You Comment, iReply! Why not try me this year!

Best wishes to each of you in the New Year!
Jeanne

NOTE: If I haven't included a link for a commenter, it's because I either don't have a URL for that commenter or I noticed certain content on the commenter's site which ran counter to the G-rating of this blog.

Did you enjoy this post? Or have you commented this year and I've forgotten to include you? Please feel free to let me know, and I'll correct the situation immediately!

I've Been Tagged

Lillie Ammann, at A Writer's Words, An Editor's Eye, has tagged me for the Eight Random Things Meme.

Bloggers who have been tagged must write a post on their own blog in which they share eight things about themselves that their readers don’t know. They then tag eight other bloggers to keep the meme going.

Here are the Rules:

1. Each blogger must post these rules first.

2. Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about him/herself.

3. Bloggers who are tagged must write a post on their own blog about their eight things and must also include these rules in that post.

4. Tagged bloggers need to select eight other bloggers, whom they tag to keep the meme going, and they must list the names of the chosen bloggers at the end of their blog posts.

5. They then must leave each blogger a comment telling them that they’ve been tagged and that they should read the tagger's blog to learn more about the meme.

Ready? Here are Eight Random Facts About Jeanne:

1. Like Lillie Ammann, I enjoy serving God by serving my church. One way I do this is by writing a weekly sermon summary and discussion sheet for our small groups to use for study. I also serve on both the First Response Team, writing messages of encouragement, and the Prayer Team.

2. As a college re-entry student, I (finally!) completed my A.A. in General Studies at age 53, graduating from Cuesta College with High Honors in May, 2006.

3. I know quite a bit of American Sign Language (ASL), learned during two years of college study, but wish I were more fluent.

4. I am a permanent member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society and served as Treasurer of the Society's Gamma Gamma Chapter during the 2006/2007 academic year .

5. I am a Notary Public.

6. I am a freelance writer, and one of the venues through which I sell my work is the Constant Content website.

7. I generally prefer to write--and read--non-fiction, though I have written poetry, fiction, and humor, as well.

8. The ratio of males to females among my siblings is the exact opposite of the ratio of males to females among my children: I have one brother and three sisters, but three sons and one daughter.

Hope you've found these eight random facts to be of some small interest.

And, Here Are the Eight Bloggers I'm Tagging for This Meme:

1. Yvonne Russell at Grow Your Writing Business

2. Brad Shorr at Word Sell

3. Melissa Garrett at The Silver Tongue

4. Diogenes at Quasi Fictional

5. Sylvia C at Sylvia's Insight

6. Denise Grier at Freelancing Journey

7. Ken Cooper at Family WebWatch

8. Joanna Young at Confident Writing

I look forward to learning more about each and every one of these bloggers!

Thanks for reading!
Jeanne

Yvonne Russell, at Grow Your Writing Business, mentioned Blog Carnival in a recent post. Thanks to Yvonne, I checked out this site and found many fascinating opportunities there for bloggers who enjoy writing about almost any topic. So, I thought I'd pass on some info about this site to my readers, so you'll have the opportunity to participate in upcoming--or ongoing--blog carnivals currently being hosted on a number of different blogs.

The above Blog Carnival link should help you keep abreast of the latest carnivals happening around the blogosphere at any given time. So, check the site often, if you'd like to participate in any of these community- and traffic-building projects hosted by various blogs. You may choose the blog carnival categories and topics you prefer to blog, or write, or simply submit previously published posts about, of which there are quite a few different categories. (And, yes, writing is one of them.)

Some of the carnivals listed on this site are outdated, as is so often the case on any site, with the speed of change occurring on the internet today. But many appear to be valid and either current and/or ongoing and have the potential to provide fascinating vehicles through which our creative energies may be channeled, our fondest interests indulged, and our literary labors of love recognized by other likeminded individuals--which sounds like a fairly good deal for all concerned!

Hope you'll find some blog carnivals here that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Happy hunting!
Jeanne

P.S. If you scroll down a bit in my blog's sidebar, you'll find a feed listing some of the recent blog carnivals that can be found on the website. (Blog categories in the feed are random.) NOTE: FEED HAS SINCE BEEN MOVED OUT OF SIDEBAR AND INTO POST ENTITLED BLOG CARNIVAL FEED: FIND BLOG CARNIVALS HERE.
